Hi all Im thinking of getting a Trigon 350 its about 80 gal , Been running 2 years now on a pair of fluval 404. I want to retire these and use then for back up flitters. Im getting a really good deal from my lfs on a FX5. Im just wondering would it be to much for the tank, I have lots of floating plants and bogwood that really slow the water rate down at the moment. Do you know if the water rate can be adjusted on the FX5. Would the current be far the strong for the fish in the tank. Severums, Cons, Festae. I know the flitter will be over kill on the cleaning and recycling of the water.Never be to clean my Granny always told me. lol Well let me know what you think people, and No as much as I would like I can not get a bigger tank as the other half would kick me out fish and all lol .

The Fluval FX5 has a flow rate of 924gph without media, when loaded with media it drops to around 615gph. The manual says flow can be regulated using the valve on the filter discharge, of course one wouldn't want that valve anywhere near to closed, so the dimensions of the tank definitely come into play. On my 180g (6'x2'x2') with valve fully open it causes a current about 4' down the tank. Hope thats of some help
