that is the cloud. been doing a bit of home work and it turns out that gw starts out like a mist in the water like what i had. and if you dont realise its not just a cloud or mist you end up with you tank looking like this. happy days

quick update> havent a clue if this is going to work because i havent tried it or heard of it before. but i have been searching for gw most of the night and phone calls during the day. what do i get paid for anyway back to business. have dosed with baking soda to increase the kh above 90ppm approx 7/8kh. what exactly ths does i hvent a clue untill i read all the info i got. also turned off thec02 and i am doing a 3 day black out starting tonight. the other main way to sort this so i am being told is uv filter which is what i dont want to do. sooner try amorenatural way first. let you all know what happens in 3 days. happy days.

did a 1/3 wc today, water was just as bad for what i could see. only enuf un-wrapped to do wc. wasnt as bad when i finished. ph was up, as was ammonia. po4 up as well. so i would say at least its starting to cycle. had to trim back the 60 as well over grown at this stage and put them in to the 240 to hope take up some of the nutrients. looking for uv filter just in case. happy days

I think doing a black out will get rid of the green water, But whats to stop it coming back again. There is an under lying cause which u need to address to stop this reoccurring

Have u been adding fertilizer? Is there any fish in your rio 240 yet? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure i read somewhere that in a planted tank, plants need nitrate, phosphate and other minerals to grow. if there is no nitrate plants stop growing and they stop using the other minerals as well. this then leaves algae with no competition for the remaining phosphate. And the end result is an algae explosion.
