I think doing a black out will get rid of the green water, But whats to stop it coming back again. There is an under lying cause which u need to address to stop this reoccurring you answered your own question with the next reply jp. got it spot on was adding ferts & i got it wrong because the table was out of date. i must post the new one for all to see.

remember this? well look at it now. total black-out for 1 week, 2 1/3 water changes in the week. cut out all c02 and ferts and added 12 extra plants on friday. uptill friday the was very little change if any at all. added 12 plants and by saturday evening it had strated to clear. and as you can now see perfectly clear. the tank is in a mess at the moment because i just put the extra lants in through the lid and landed were they fell. also won the bid on e-bay for uv. filter so will have it just in case. happy days

believe me karen ive had some problems as you know but this one had me sweating quite a bit. going to give it a cople more days b4 i do anything at all,just be watching it, also going to keep the light low then gradually increase it day by day. thanks to all for all the help and advice, ;D happy days

hi jon. gravel is between 2-4 inch. 4inch at the back in places to help raise the bog wood.

the floating plant should NOT BE floating, its actually 'limph aquatica' just didnt get time to re bed it in the rush to day. still a good bit to do yet.
