Hi! Really like this site! Well Im not very experienced with bigger tanks yet, I've only had a 15gal for awhile now, it's home to my betta, Sammy, and a couple live plants, but...
I was recently givin a 55gal complete setup, along with it's inhabitants: a 10inch plecostomus, a 4inch gold gourami, two upside down catfish and about a million snails. Although I am stoked to have it, I'm overwelmed with everything I don't know about fish and aquariums... So here's the start of my many questions to be posted around here:
first, how should I get rid of the multitude of snails? I know there mostly harmless, but they're Everywhere, and really quite gross. I've read about different fish that will eat them, (dwarf pufferfish, varies loaches) but I'm not sure they will like my other fish.
And on that note, what are some other good tankmates for my fish? I don't want to stress them out, as they are quite old, and none of the petstore employees around here seem to know what they are talking about.
Also, I would like to start some live plants, what kind are advisable? Those dried out bulbs at the petstore any good? I've been told most fish eat all those plants...
Sorry for the load of silly questions, any info is helpful, thanks!
