It might be the right reading, these chemical PH testers, once opened, they can be only used reliably for a certain amount of time. plus there not perfect to start with. i got two different types of those 5in1 test stripes, one of them shows my ph at 6.4 the other is at 6.8 and i have a liquid tester which shows 7.0. which one do i believe?. In that picture u posted of your tank. I notied u have what looks like a white rock in the background. limestone perhaps? Maybe this is why your PH is higher than u thought it would be.

try testing the pH of something with a known pH (eg. distiled water will always have a pH of 7) or get your LFS to double check on your tank water.

the meter itself will not stabilize. in tank it giving me between 4.1 to 7.8. thats after recalibrating it, which again didnt stay still. in the buffer it was reading 4.9 to 7.1 at 25.1 deg c. which should have read 6.864. so sumit wrong somewere? think i stay color blind. its easier. haha

ok, recalibrate it in the buffer, then switch it off, then rinse it in some distilled water (while it's off) then place it in a glass of tank water and then turn it on. never take it out of a liquid while it's on and rinse it before and after use as well as in between different liquids. see if that helps
