Hi what does it mean when fish start swimming really fast to the surface and jump out of the water?

depends on what fish. some fish do tend to jump especially when get a bit boisterous or feel threatend. any other info that might help us?

Just in case it is not a jumping species there could be a toxic chemical in the tank. Can you get your hand on some marine poly ply. Pour some tank water over and see if it changes colour.It should tell you what pollutant is in the water. I would do a water change anyway and add a new Carbon filther. Keep some of the old water for testing.

Hi what does it mean when fish start swimming really fast to the surface and jump out of the water? Reading your under your first post is say u have a 30l tank with two guppy's and two Cory catfish. Cory catfish do this all the time, its quite normal. But having said that if they are doing it constantly then this might be a sign of hypoxia.(lack of oxygen)
