Language Ben! To correct you, with many you can have e-mail notification. For all you know, Karen might have just not turned it on yet or maybe she had a good reason to turn it off. Do you know how much "proper" hosting costs? If you do, then you might know that an average fishkeeper can't afford it & if you are one of those in a thousand who can afford it, then you should offer to donate towards it since you obviously care enough about this forum to make such a sugestion.

There are no problems whatsoever with free hosting; it includes backup capability, its as stable as any server, features and options a plenty all for the flat fee of nothing, why would anyone pay? This is a fun forum after all and has not been created for any monatary gain.

well yes there is many problems with free hosting. one of them is they can get hacked extremely easily. many people would pay for these extra sercurity features and being able to do a lot more with the board there paying for. I have been to many fish boards where there is paid hosting and software www.fishforums.com like one so i think it is a load of rubbish that you say a \"average\" fish keeper can\'t afford it.

Hi Ben, First let me say that i have had both paid and free boards and except for a few extra mods that you can download for the paid board i found very little difference, in fact i would say that the free boards had a lot less down time than the paid boards, and as for hackers, if you get the right kind of hacker it won't matter if the board is paid for or free. Karen has stated that she has sorted the e-mail notification and is going to post up how to go about receiving notification, so thats that sorted, i can't see one other fault with this board? And as for paying for a forum, as i said i have done so in the past but i honestly could see no reason to do so again unless the forum gets so huge that you run out of bandwith. BTW..Paid servers can work out pretty expensive and not every body could afford to pay for one, even if they did think it was worth it.

well yes there is many problems with free hosting. one of them is they can get hacked extremely easily. many people would pay for these extra sercurity features and being able to do a lot more with the board there paying for. Nope! sorry, you're wrong there mate. For example IF boards are hack proof, but they can only be cracked and all boards are exactly as easy to crack as any other. Yes, some free boards are hackable but not all. There are more things you can do with the board more easily, but do remember that for example galleries and chat you have to pay for on the side and free boards can have hacks and mods added on. I have been to many fish boards where there is paid hosting and software www.fishforums.com like one so i think it is a load of rubbish that you say a \"average\" fish keeper can\'t afford it. Sorry to disappoint you, but that is true, if you don't believe me then just ask a few average fishkeepers and I'm not talking about breeders or people with over 15 tanks here for those are not your average aquarist.
