intstead of using twine or cotton to tie down plants such as java moss etc. use a hair net. also if you are trying to get them to stay on the bottom of the tank use a plastic grid from a hobby shop or a bonsi mat from newlands. and sandwhich the plant between two sheets and hold the sheet down with rock or gravel. the plant then grows through the grid hiding it and you end up with a lush carpet of plants.
