I never taken growing plants to that level because i was never very successful at it, but just recently i have been having more success with them. My main problem in the past was because there was no IRON in my tank. I have looked at co2 injection, but i have very soft water here, co2 injection would radically affect the PH of my water. So i haven't bothered with it. Plants may not grow as fast, but there still growing without it.
In furture i might use baking soda to counteract the affects of co2 injection on my water PH. Maybe!

fair play. i have soft water, when i put in more plants and another co2 line (so i have 2 co2 running at once) this must have compensated all water stats as the all stayed the same readings. have just put different plants in so we see how they do. have ordered the iron pellets we disscused. hope they be here early this week.

Perhaps u have subtrate or rocks that are leaching just enough minerals into the water, too buffer a decrease in PH. Those iron pellets are the best thing since slided bread, as far as I'm concerned.

dont think so, the subtrate supose to be total inert. or so i was told, it just the black gravel. that why was lookin for latrate to add to it cos i got the plants but they seem to be doin ok with out it so far. goin to put iron tabs in & take it from there. obvious not all ok cos plants not oxiginating at present that why im trying to get it all correct. once they start bubbling i will be happy.

Do u have any ornaments, some of them can leach minerals. I've never noticed any oxygen bubbles on my plants at night either. To be quite honest I have never really made a point of looking. p.s Did a bit of reading on this subject of oxygen bubbles on the plants, it seems that it is common not to see the bubbles. Here is the site. fins.actwin.com/aquatic-plants/month.9509/msg00242.html
