depends how big the tank or should i say how much water? havent had to do that yet but was talking to a guy 2 days ago about this. he said wahat he did was to collect as much water from the tank as possiable in the likes of lge plastic bins then transport everything over to the new house. if you havnt enough water left as he didnt, he left the fish in a smaller second tank for two days, he said he only lost one fish out of 26 he had, but this is only what he told me. but the more water you save the better then just top up over a few days with extra water.

I would have plenty buckets to pair. Put your fish into buckets cover them, so that it is dark, if possible airate the water in buckets as well .also don't feed fish for 24hr's before move. this will prevent as much ammonia going into water during move. doing all this means less stress for fish. Your filter is also important. I have heard that the bacteria can only survive without oxygen for a couple of hours. so if possible take out filter and leave it running in a bucket of old tank water till the last possible moment. Save as much tank water as u can for refilling the tank at the other end. Have plenty of people to help u move the tank and buckets. The quicker u can get all of this done the better off your fish and bacteria will be. Also I'm sure u probably have this covered, but make sure the electricity is turned on at the new house.
