hi, my name is what i seem to grow more of instead of plants haha. it takes approx 4 weeks to cycle a tank properly. the 3 tets will help to cycle it for you. you need to get the four main test kits to check the water stats if you havnt got them already. pH,ammonia, nitrIte & nitrAte. only when the nitrIte & ammonia read 0 should you then add fiah. do you have 55g or 55L tank. if it 55L it to small to keep angels in. they grow big.

unfortunatly a lot of lfs are only interested in profit and not the fish them selves. sounds like you have a record 60 tank or similar, thats what i have, its realy only suitable for small fish. like tetras, rainbows small plecos etc. fish keeping is all about the water quality, not the fish. its a MUST that you check the water stats regularly once a week untill you become accustomed with your tank.

ok you also need to get a themometer to check the temp. the dial on the heater is only a guide. water temp should be approx 23-25deg but depends on what fish you are keeping.

test kits are sold seperate or in a large kit. but the main 4 are the ones you need for now till you get up & running. then you can add as you go along.

The furr things are Fungus, I think your fish are dying because of Ammonia and this is causing the fungus the grow.Do a water change and add plenty of Bacteria. If I was you Iwould do daily water changes of 20% for the next week until your tank has cycled more.

any chance of a photo? did you get a thermometer? take from that. yes i did get one it is reading 25 now but it was reading over 30 but i think i turned the heater down to quick i read it has to be done over a few days or fish could break out in disease so could that be what caused it?
