TAKE IT OUT!!! i am in Oxford, UK and right now (as in for the last few weeks) not one of my tanks has a heater in because the weather is so warm and i'm doing my bi-annual clean (soaking them in vinegar to get the limescale off), all my tanks are at 25-27C as it is, with a few going over 30C (I have been spending most of my days doing the icebag trick to cool them down) It might be that the same has happened to your tank, so the first thing to do would be to test your heater in your bathtub/bucket (depending on it's size) to check that it is broken. (does the light stay on when the water temp goes to 30C?) The temp outside right now is... *goes to look* 18C so if you're about the same, don't worry about being heaterless for a few days

its probably best to buy a second heater just in case a accident happens, its always handy.
