I never really save the fry i leave them to defend for themselfves in the tank, the most that has survived is about 9.

yep! my gups have a life expactancy of about 5 years (appart from the albinos who are about 3 years due to too much inbreeding)

sell them... trade them in at the LFS (not so local, but my gups are so good that the guy drives for 1:30 each way just to pick them up)... i don't make much out of it, but their tanks pay for themselves which is good enough for me ^_^
