how long does it take for a baby swordtail to grow its sword?

the longer the better a swordtail will usually start growing it's sword once it's reached a decent size (close to adult) so if your st male starts growing his tail when he's quite large, then you know he will be a good sized male by about 4-6 months the sword is usually at it's full length

I have a baby swordtail at the moment his sword has just started to grow and he is about five months old so i wouldn't worry if yours hasn't got one yet.

the older they are, the better. it mean you will have a bigger male!!
