When your experienced enough you will know what books talk rubbish and what books are good. A lot of bookd are old and dated like the atlas and the Beanch books but they still are useful. I have read books and certain sites like a certain northern Ireland fish suppliers homesite and it talks lot of rubbish. Please do not believe any of the info written in article form about fish. It is totaly useless and complete bull. I had a row with one of ther sales reps over fish. I tore strips off him and pointed out deformities with some fish. I cant go in to details because of legal reasons but I can prove their articles are idiotic. They have a so called discus expert who was unavailable to talk to me about H.L.L.E. He denied that discus bought were recovering from the illess. I said illness because personnally I don`t believe its a disease.I have only ever seen it in emaciated and extremely stressed discus. I believe it caused by poor diet and to a lesser extent parasites. Books should be used for reference and nothing compares to experience.

i think anthony is correct in the experianced enough way. i am only 7 mths into fish keeping and have a pain in the head will all the information i have got off different sites in that time. what one thinks is true someone else will say its false. i have ended up trying to put all this info together and try to make sense of it all. lucky i have a good aqautic store owner who with his help has set me in the right direction. as for books i have about 8 plus a lot of info from diff sites on diff subjects i put together which fills 3 A4 folders. but as for who is right or wrong is what works for you may not work for someone else with exception to the likes of water stats.

Deiter`s book is a little dated now according to some experts I now who are friends of his but apparently its still good. I never read it myself so I can`t comment on it.
Not saying I am an expert.
