Hey all...
Just to start a topic here & pick your brains a bit...
Recently I bought an Amazon Sword. What I didn't expect was I got some free plants with it. A few days later I noticed some Duckweed in the tank.
Duckweed is one of those things that aquarists are split on as far as I can tell. Some think it's neat & some look at it as something slightly less annoying than ich.
In fact, the last issue of Aquarium Fish Magazine had an article in it about "Unexpected Guests" in your tank. The article covered bugs, worms, leeches, snails...and Duckweed.
Before I say what I did with mine...what do you think? Neat plant or pain in the (insert your own noun)?

it's good food for goldies and large fish... excellent for betta's nests. extremely good at sucking up nitrAtes. I also used to sell it but had descided to get rid of it at one point in favour of another floater: managed to do all my tanks in one afternoon and not a leaf seen since. the only problem i can see with it is that it can clog filters if they are too high...

yeah i have to agree, i really find it good for fry, the only problem i would have is it clogging up the filter.

Duckweed really is a nice little plant but, when you spend so much time cleaning it out of your filter it's not worth in IMO.
