cabomba,sword plant,egria,red hygrophilia, i grow this with the extra light in the tank, giant bacopa( tear drop) grows well, and depends on your personal preferance and type of fish you have.

IME hygrophila and vallis are the best low maintenance ones, high maintenance ones would be cabomba and elodea

only problem with vallis is trying to keep it alive. lots people have trouble with it. i have caboma and elodea and just leave it to do its own thing with out any problems.

Maybe there's something in water in Ireland you don't get in UK? Very few people n my area have trouble with it...

i have twisted valis, i broke some of the roots while moving it just recently. Some of the those long leaves dead back but seems to be growing back fine now. I use root boota pellets for fertilization and 2x25w tubes for lighting one tube is for plants it gives off blue looking light, it's something to do with longer light waves more towards the ultraviolet part of the light spectrum, It's supposed to be good for plant growth.

dont think it just in ireland. few people on other forums seem to have the same problem.
