Remember this.
Well look at it now.
I have been trying out seachem flourish excel and it seems to work wonders on the plants and REDUCING ALGAE in the tank. It hasn’t removed all the algae but has most certainly reduced it and stunted the growth of it. I don’t know if it can be seen in the photos but the color of the plants are also more vivid green then ever before.
Flourish excel is a liquid carbon additive(c02) that plants require to grow properly as we all know and I have been adding c02 through yeast type injection and have two of them running together, but obviously even this hasn’t been enough for the plants to incur a good photo session so I decided to give it a go and hey presto, IT WORKED.
I wouldn’t recommend permanent use of it though as, although as yet unproven, it does seem to have an effect and I my self lost a neon and an Otto when I first started using it, as I have been told by others that thy also lost fish at the start of using it, also it has been told and said that high dosage can kill some plants, if it kills algae it must have an effect on other things in the tank also.
The effect of flourish here is over a two week period, as the photos show the way the tank was b4 and after I can only recommend at least a trial run in small amounts and gradually build it up to full speck if you are having problems with algae or stunted growth of your plants.
I have also started dosing KNSO4(potassium) as this has never proven to have any effect with the growth of algae but one of the most overlooked needs of nutrients of plants, but as I only started using it at the beginning of the week it is to soon to see any change in the use of KNS04.
I am trying it now in the 60 b4 I set up the new 240 to see the over all effect and make any changes so hopefully I will be better prepared than I was with the 60.
I will keep you updated on how its going.
