Ive been reading about blood parrots are really dyed fish?

some are, some not. some need to be fed special foods to help maintain their colours bright. basically they come in shades of pale yellow (almost white) to red, anything outside that is dyed. you might not know this, but they are fertile hybrids of a number of SA cichlids.

Blood Parrots true colors are orange in color and some are a "Natural" yellow. Dyed colors will be blue, green, purple, pink, bright yellow, etc. My sig pic is of a Blood Parrot that isn't dyed. If you are planning on getting this fish be sure to start out with juvies that haven't colored up, yet. About the dyed ones..................the dye fades out as they grow and they go back to their natural colors. This is why I say get juvies. In the bigger fish you can't be sure if it's been dyed or not.

Thats good to hear, im thinking about buying one and seen them in my lfs and then read their dyed, the ones i seen are a pale yellow.
