I'm unsure what mts stands for. did a web search and turned this up.
MTS (Multiple Tank Syndrome)
Most aquarist’s are familiar with this term. Most of us even “suffer” from this syndrome. The problem is most of us are totally unaware of the origin of the term or what it causes it. An in-depth look at this fairly common affliction is more than needed.
The origin: If you look up MTS on the internet, you will find a ton of sites that contain the term, but absolutely nothing specifically written about it. It took me awhile to find something credible and it was at the local library. A study was commissioned at Pappercup University to explore the phenomena. To keep the study honest, the University sought the renowned psychoanalyst Dr. Ivan A. Phishtank. Dr. Phistank had seen the phenomena and dived right in. The study was launched on April 22, 1997. It was named: “The Aquarist’s have lost it – Multiple Tank Syndrome in home aquaria”.
The cause/findings: At the conclusion of the study, which involved interviewing thousands of aquarist’s, visiting numerous local fish stores and the occasional bar, the final paper was drafted and accepted as the final explanation for the phenomena. The findings were astonishing and concluded:
1. If you have more than one aquarium in your home, you have MTS 2. There is no cure (most that were attempted created chaos) 3. If you have more than three aquariums, you have SMTS or Severe Multiple Tank Syndrome. 4. People who suffer from MTS are often in denial 5. MTS is caused by (this was very controversial) “Love of Aquaria” 6. Most aquarists with MTS don’t own a combine or a yacht 7. No aquarist with MTS has been to Saturn 8. 100% of aquarists with MTS are human 9. 100% of aquarists with MTS believe that tanks are more important than streaking 10. Finally, folks with MTS have actually considered removing existing furniture to install new tanks.
Family members of MTS sufferer’s should try to comfort these folks and make every attempt to assist in the purchase of new tanks.
