Do corys need to be in groups if so how many?

Rather give them away. I work in the local ifs some weekends giving advice so I get my stuff for cost anyway.

cories will live well in a community tank.
IME they do best in groups of 5+

I agree with bagira, cories do much better in larger groups, they don't get mush over 2" Bernie and will be fine in your community tank.

What type of corys did you get? And I agree with some of the replies above. More than three is best - particularly if you entertain thoughts of spawning them.
I've had tons of different corys, but my "spawning group" was five - 3 females and two males.
They're cool little fish. Have fun with them!
